The Gamo Viper Express is a combination air rifle and shotgun package. While its primarily intended to be an air rifle, you can chamber and fire .22 caliber shotshells. Friendly reminder, though, that this isnt a firearm.
Youll need an adapter to fire the .22 pellets, but the shotshells slide right into the chamber. The special ammo contains 17 grains of #9 shot, which is great for short-range pest control. Youll primarily be able to take care of snakes and smaller critters with it.
The guns profile highly resembles a modern sporting shotgun. The barrel is smoothbore and has a polymer jacket for maximum service life. However, you shouldnt expect a very long accurate range without rifling.
Smoothbore barrels increase the shots spread, which is crucial when taking care of rattlesnakes or other serpents. You can also shoot rodents and other pests with the shotshells, especially when youre up close.
Safety is addressed with the manual catch and automatic cocking safety features. With the safety features engaged, the trigger cant be pulled when cocking the air rifle, and the shooter is safe from malfunctions.
The Smooth Action Trigger installed in this air rifle is of excellent quality. By adjusting the two stages individually, you can genuinely make the rifle your own and increase your accuracy in the process.
You only have a shotgun-style bead front sight mimicking modern shotguns made in this style without rear sights. Theyre simply unnecessary for the ranges the Viper Express works within.
