The Crosman 2240XL is a factory-upgraded version of the companys 2240 air pistol. While the caliber and gas cartridges are the same, there are some new additions that make it a different piece.
Most noticeable is the muzzle brake that you can remove. It uses x 20 threading, so aftermarket or custom muzzle devices fit easily. The muzzle brake reduces recoil and helps you hit the bulls-eye with less effort.
You can attach the plastic thread protector when the threading isnt used. When youre ready to mount a new device, the threads will accept it immediately.
Instead of iron sights, this gun has an 11 mm dovetail scope mount. This mount accepts the Crosman LPA MIM rear sight or other designated air gun optics. Remember to only use air gun optics, as standard scopes break down due to the forces.
Otherwise, this gun works like the original 2240. The bolt action is similar, and the same muscle memory will carry over flawlessly.
Even though a single-shot weapon is comparatively safer, you still need a safety catch. This device prevents accidental discharges. Learning to use it promotes gun safety and avoids trouble.
