This Umarex product is a licensed copy of Glocks famous G17 handgun. Instead of shooting live rounds or BBs, it feeds .43 caliber paintballs. Visually, however, it resembles the actual firearm in almost every way.
Made of aluminum and polymer, this replica is lighter than the genuine Glock 17, but its no less reliable and rugged. This strength comes from the German manufacturing process with tight tolerances and no allowances for error. The materials are also top-of-the-line to ensure the best quality possible.
Keeping with the Gen5 Glock handguns, this paintball pistol also has a tactical rail at the bottom of the frame. It accepts many lasers and flashlights, even combination lights. As long as the accessory fits, you can expect it to stay attached.
Since this isnt the First Edition, the package contains only the handgun, magazine, and other items. There wont be extra backstraps that the First Edition came with. Even so, the Standard Edition is practically identical in every way.
From the eight-round magazine to muzzle velocity, there are barely any differences between the two. The Standard Editions speed is only 10 FPS faster, which is a minimal difference at best. It handles like a genuine Glock as well, thanks to the licensing.
The slide stop lever on the frame is ambidextrous, but the magazine release must be reversed before left-handed shooters can eject spent magazines reliably. Thankfully, it doesnt take too long to do so, and the package comes with the proper tools to help with disassembly.
Make sure you purchase some 12g CO2 cartridges, as you can only fire around 90 paintballs before the weapon needs a refill.
